Before I forget

Yeah, yeah, intros and all that. Later.

I just nearly finished a project and I have to post the info before I forget completely and throw away the yarn wrappers.

The pattern is Fiber Trends Felt Caps (http://www.redbarnfarm.net/ac8.jpg) and the yarn is Lopi Reynolds color 98 (Cadet Blue) on size 10.5 needles (using the Denise set).

I realized a bit late that the yarn is bulkier than worsted, since it's 110 yards per 100 gram ball. I knit to gauge for the pattern instructions and the unfelted hat feels fairly tightly knit. It seemed to take forever to finish the knitting, round and round and the hat seems appropriately huge. The hat band doesn't seem that much bigger than my head measurement - maybe a couple inches - but the crown is taller than the picture would indicate.

I definitely could not wear this yarn next to my skin - let's hope the finished hat doesn't bother me too. It's going into the washer as soon as my last load of clothes is done. Pics if it comes out looking hat-like.

Update: The darned thing is still huge after felting. It was in the washer for over an hour and it stopped getting smaller after about 45 minutes. I even got desperate and stuck a Kong in the linen bag with it. No dice. It works in an eccentric sort of way, but is not an "everyday" type of hat. Pics later.
